Nasolabial Folds

The nasolabial folds are commonly known as “smile lines” or “laugh lines”. Nasolabial folds, or parentheses, are the deep folds that run from the wings of your nose to the angle of your mouth. They are the two skin nasolabial grooves that separate the cheeks from the upper lip. These folds develop as we aged and can be one of the first visible signs of facial aging. That`s why nasolabial folds are also one of the first areas of the face targeted by anti-aging or facial rejuvenation procedures.
There are many options to choose from if you are considering nasolabial fold correction. They include injectable fillers, nasolabial groove excision and certain types of facelift.
Facelift can be helpful in elevating the cheeks back toward their proper position, filler agents are a great solution if you want to avoid or delay surgery.
With ageing the folds may become more pronounced. The most significant factors that contribute to the prominence of the folds are cheek skin relaxation and ptosis, excess of buccal fat, and ptosis of perioral muscles.
The goal in treating any nasolabial grooves is to decrease its depth, make the face appearance smoother and younger. Because hyaluronic fillers are injected into the skin tissue layers that contain numerous nerve endings, most of these agents have to contain lidocaine (as local anesthetic) to decrease pain in the procedure.

Compared to hyaluronic acid fillers, correction of nasolabial grooves with hydrophilic gel, Aquafilling® is painless procedure, as the gel is very soft and elastic, it isn’t acid and it can be inject with thin needle G-30. Due to injection of the gel is performed into the subcutaneous tissue that does not have so many nerve endings, patient does not feel any pain in most cases.
The aesthetic effects after Aquafilling® procedures are almost immediate and a patient can return to social and business life right away after the procedure – no recovery time is required. Aquafilling® hydrophilic gel is safe and compatibility agent with very rare side effects such as slight redness and swelling. The improvement of the facial features lasts up to three years – up to four times longer than any other dermal filler.
