5 Reasons Why You’re Better Off Self-Employed

For those who already enjoy the perks of being self-employed, you may still find yourself not truly embracing the benefits you get to enjoy. But fear not - my intent with this post is to remind you why being self-employed is so awesome and why you were so eager to pursue this in the first place. Whether you already own your own , or have been toying with the idea of turning your love of  into a full time job, I’ll refresh your mind of the freedom and enjoyment you get to enjoy while being self-employed.

  1. You’re Your Own Boss
    Well, you can’t say you didn’t see this one coming. It’s the one thing everyone gets excited about shortly after realizing self-employment is a viable option. Remember that overjoyed feeling you had when you just started out? What about the feeling of knowing you could make a living by pursuing your passion for children as a ?
    The best part has got to be that you control how your work is done. Of course, you want to make sure your client(s) are happy - but for the most part, how you finish the job is completely up to you.

  2. You Enjoy More Variety
    As someone who is fully invested in growing your business and/or client list, you are constantly being challenged with finding new ways to get around this. Forget just carrying out a single task all day, your business depends on you and your ability to adapt and be creative. It’s great to know that your skills are continuously expanding as long as your business is.

  3. Sick Day? No Problem!
    Of course it’s understood that a day you don’t work will usually mean a day without pay, but at least you can take the day off without having to go through various people or filling out tedious forms. Finally - you can enjoy your sick day without feeling guilty.

    As your own boss, you have the power to set the work hours that work best for you. Whether you prefer a fixed schedule or crave to mix it up with flexible hours, the choice is yours. This leaves you with a better work-life balance and an overall feeling of being in control of whatever ends up on your to-do list. Whether you enjoy walking dogs early in the morning, or students only on weekends, the choice is entirely yours.

    When you work as an employee, you usually have little say in choosing clients and end up working with pretty much anybody that comes through. If things go sour with a client now, it’s all on you since you’re the one in control. You’re in the driver’s seat since you get to choose who you’ll provide services to.

Of course it’s only natural that a busy schedule and competing demands will sometimes get the best of you. No one said that running your own business such as a  or being an  will be easy, and at times you may even question how amazing your business really is. The truth, however, remains: self-employment is a wonderful option. Enjoy it.
